In a side-by-side comparison with Konami's Metal Gear Solid, Syphon
Filter comes out on top. All that I see was needed to make this game
perfect, was a little sex to go along with the gratuitous violence. :-)
And I'm not being sarcastic folks.
This game has all the workings to be a top notch action film. The vast
variety of weapons, and
exotic ones at that, was really a nice touch and added an air of realism
to the game. Gameplay was
impeccable in my honest opinion. Far better than Metal Gear Solid. Though
the controls and abilities
you command as Gabe are many, they are fairly simple to master. I'm getting
kind of tired of games
with a controller that has so many buttons, and so many moves you never
can remember to use
them all. The enemy AI and the need for actual stealth in some missions
really helped to add to the
adrenaline pumping atmosphere of the game. With controls like manual targeting,
a zoomable sniper
rifle, and night-vision sniper rifle, this game really immerses you in
the role of Gabe Logan. Not to
mention giving you the satisfaction of eliminating your enemy with a gratifying
head shot. No better
way to vent a little frustration than by wasting a few hundred terrorist
scumbags. And my oh my,
what a body count in this game. This game also had a surprisingly replayable
allure. I found myself
trying to better my mission times and perfect my play. I give Syphon Filter
two thumbs up. And I sure
can't wait to play the next one.
